   Gowanda Middle School
students Atlanta bound

Recently, a group of Gowanda Middle School music students have had the special honor of being invited to participate in the 2005 Broadway Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta, Georgia on Jan. 14-17. GMS is one of four groups from around the country invited to become a part of the 2005 festival team to participate in a Disney Showcase by giving a preview performance of Broadway junior’s “Jungle Book.” Gowanda has the distinction of being the only public school asked to participate in this event.

This is an unbelievable opportunity for the 34 students who have been selected to be members of the “Jungle Book” Preview Cast. These students were carefully chosen based on their constant demonstration of the qualities needed to meet this incredible challenge. All of these fine young musicians have proven themselves to be motivated, capable and highly responsible.

In order for this amazing experience to become reality for these young people, it is imperative that they raise a good deal of money in a very short period of time. These kids will be representing the Gowanda Middle School, the community of Gowanda, and all of Western New York. They are currently seeking sponsors to help cover the cost of the trip.

Anyone who wishes to sponsor the students by giving a tax-deductible donation to support this trip can send checks made out to “Happy Tones” to: Gowanda Middle School, Happy Tones, 10647 Prospect St., Gowanda, NY 14070, or drop them off in the middle school office at any time. A receipt and thank-you note will be sent to you acknowledging your kindness. The school will be listing patrons on the program of the spring presentation of "Jungle Book” to be performed in March in the GCS auditorium. (To remain anonymous, contact the school.)    [See photo]
