Trees of Life -Approximately 200 gather Sept. 22 at Gowanda Central School for the memorial tree planting for Lindsay Rebmann and Darrell Bennett, both victims of auto accidents not long ago. School Superintendent Charles Rinaldi states that, “This is a celebration as well as a memorial ... a time to look forward. Trees are foundations of life.” As he gazes out his office window, Rinaldi said, “These trees are reminders of two young lives taken too soon.” Board of Education President Michelle Davis, and family members and friends expressed their feeling of loss. The Rev. Lawrence Milby then blessed the flowering crabapple planted in Lindsay’s name and the magnolia planted for Darrell. Plaques were then presented to the Rebmann and Bennett families, honoring the teenagers and their contributions. (Photo by Mary Pankow.)
