In a special meeting held Sept. 16 by the Gowanda Central School Board of Education, the following were decided:
   •  The Gowanda Central School District will conduct a special election to be held on Nov. 9 from noon to 8 p.m. in the gymnasium of the high school for the purpose of electing one member of the Board of Education, to fill an at-large vacancy on the board created by the resignation on Aug. 8 of board member Donald Tew. The candidate elected will complete the remainder of the three-year term that began on July 1.
   •  The Board of Education is hereby authorized to expend during the 2005-06 fiscal year an amount not exceeding $240,000 from the capital reserve fund known as the “Transportation Reserve Fund” of the district for the purpose of purchasing three school buses.
