The circus comes to town

Tent Raising - Viola, a 33-year-old Asian elephant, wields her heft and might to pull the main support poles of the Big Top upright. It’s an easy feat for the elephant that weighs five tons. As the Kelly Miller Circus came to life in Gowanda on July 27, young and old alike gathered to watch the precision of the workers as they molded into shape one of America’s few remaining traveling road shows.    (Photo by Mary Pankow.)

Ready for Action - Taking just a little over two hours to set up, the Kelly Miller Circus transforms Gowanda Central School grounds into a main event venue.    (Photo by Mary Pankow.)
