Gowanda’s Hidi Park

     The Gowanda men’s recreational softball league welcomed Channel 2 Sports Director Stu Boyer and his cameraman as they came out to Gowanda on Monday, July 19 to do a feature story on the field nicknamed “Hidi Park on Broadway Road.”

     Boyer did exclusive interviews with longtime players and teammates Mark Benton and Dana Jolls while their team, Bill Gugino Builders, played a double-header against Newtown.

     Boyer’s feature was a follow-up to a news article that appeared on the front page of the “City and Region” section of the Buffalo News on July 10.

     Channel 2 aired Boyer’s story during their 6 o’clock newscast on Wednesday, July 21. As Boyer and his cameraman were leaving following the filming, they commented, “We are glad that we came out here to Gowanda. This will make for a very entertaining story.”

     The softball league will conclude their final round this week. The playoffs begin Aug. 9. The regular season champion and all-star team will also be announced before the playoffs begin.
