Girls softball season endsThe Gowanda Girls Minor Softball team ended their season June 16 with a decisive win against the South Dayton Tigers, scoring 19-4. The minor team suffered two defeats early in the season, ending with an overall standing of seven wins and two losses. The team held their yearend picnic June 20 at Evangola State Park. Participation certificates were presented to all players, with “Angels in the Outfield” pins given to those players moving up to the majors. Special awards were given to three girls who hit home runs during the season. Hunter White earned one home run, Stephanie Hedges had two home runs and Beth Troutman earned a grand slam during the regular season. The coaches would like to acknowledge the support of the parents, fans and family members. The Gowanda Girls Softball teams are always looking for volunteers. If you or someone you know would like to help, watch for sign-ups in March of 2005, or contact Mary Jacobs at 532-4395 or Becky Hedges at 532-4772.
