Gowanda Library activities“Aye, matey! We are sailing the high seas this year for treasures. One of the best treasures in this world is books, especially here at the Gowanda Free Library,” says Manager Jeanne Glende. The program is for ages 0 to 99 and each summer more and more families join in the fun. Goode’s Restaurant, McDonald’s and Art’s Grocery Store have joined together to bring sweet treats. For children under the age of 10, there will be a free meal coupon from a choice of two restaurants. A pirate day, complete with movie and snacks, will take place on Tuesday, July 27 at 3 p.m. for children 13 and up with permission slips. A pirate story hour for younger children will take place on Monday, Aug. 16 at 6:30 p.m. for children 5 to 12. A true treasure will await each and every one of those who complete the summer reading program. Participants will be presented with a hardcover book with a plaque, made possible by funding awarded by HSBC and the Gowanda Free Library. Check the Gowanda PennySaver News for future listings of a surprise appearance.
