In addition to the traditional competitions that take place during a convention, Gowanda will feature a new competition, Fireman’s Island, based on the popular TV show, “Survivor.”

     Since the theme for the convention is “Survivor,” what better way to really see the survival skills of the competing firemen. Just like the TV show, there will be tasks that have to be completed and if you can’t complete the task, you are eliminated.

     This competition will start in the evening on Friday, Aug. 6 after the grotesque parade and go until Saturday afternoon. The winner will receive $500 and will be announced Saturday evening in the beer tent.
