Lions Club honors Rogers

     Leora Rogers was recently proclaimed Lion of the Year in Gowanda. President Sandy Gaylord presented the award to Rogers.

     The Lion of the Year award was given to Rogers, who has been a member since 1987. She has been third vice president, second vice president, first vice president, and president. She is presently serving as tail twister, has been committee chairman for the carnation sale, picnic, auction, charter night and school fair. She has worked on every fund-raiser since joining and has been on the board of directors since 1991.

     Rogers has been a district 20N convention delegate and has attended three state conventions, She is the wife of Lion Wes Rogers, and while he served as zone chairman and region chairman for two years, each was able to attend zone and region meetings as well as visiting many other Lions clubs.

     Rogers is a member of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church and is active in other community organizations, including the Tri-County Hospital Auxiliary and the Gowanda Garden Club.

     The Gowanda Lions Club recently celebrated their 44th annual charter night. Ten Lions received perfect attendance pins for the year and six received chevrons to be worn with their membership pin for length of membership.
