Gowanda Chamber seeks most Photogenic King and Queen

     The Gowanda Chamber of Commerce will be crowning a number of winners in its first-ever Photogenic King and Queen contest, to be held in conjunction with the village’s annual Pioneer Days parade.

     A king and queen from eight different age groups for both boys and girls will represent Gowanda in the Pioneer Days parade on Saturday, May 22 at 6 p.m. Winners will receive a crown or tiara and a sash; Winners will ride in the parade in convertibles courtesy of Gowanda Ford.

     Age groups include - under 1; 1 year old; ages 2 and 3; 4 to 6; 7 to 10; 11 to 13; 14-17; and 18-21 for both boys and girls. Ages are determined as of May 22, 2004.

     Participants can drop off or mail photos with name, age, address and phone number on the back of the picture to the Gowanda Area Chamber of Commerce, 28 Jamestown Street, Gowanda, NY 14070 no later than April 15. No photos will, be accepted after the deadline.

     Contestants must be a resident of the Gowanda area school district. Photos may not be larger than 4x6, and no professional or nude photos will be accepted. School photos, however, may be used, and pictures will be returned. Winning photos will be published in the Gowanda PennySaver/News.

     Photos can be viewed and voted on by the community at J’s Place on Main Street in Gowanda beginning April 19. Voting will end on May 8. People are encouraged to vote for their favorite picture in one or all of the age groups at $1 per vote. Winners will be determined by total votes.
