Ice-jammed Cattaraugus Creek

     Recent warm weather, wind, and rain combined to create a spectacular late-winter scene looking downstream from the Versailles bridge over a thoroughly ice-jammed Cattaraugus Creek. Huge chunks of ice clogged the creek, stretching far downstream from just above the Versailles bridge. The chunks suddenly broke loose and swept away, adding to the flooding problem at Sunset Bay, where the creek empties into Lake Erie.
