European tip-off

Beth Moyer
Beth Moyer

Beth Moyer, a freshman at Gowanda Central School and daughter of James and Betty Moyer of Gowanda, has the opportunity to participate in an international basketball tournament in England and Holland.

Chosen by one of her athletic directors because of her interest and talent in sports, Moyer would travel overseas through the People to People Sports Ambassador Program. The tournament takes place July 16-26.

To fund the trip, Moyer needs to raise $4,000, which she will do through various sales, pop can drives and other fund-raising efforts that are still in the planning stages.

An active teen, Moyer has been involved in sports for a number of years, enjoying the challenges of baseball, softball, volleyball, gymnastics, bowling and, of course, basketball.

Her enthusiasm has resulted in letters of recommendation from her basketball coach and teachers to meet the People to People program requirement.

Aside from tournament play, Moyer will tour London and Amsterdam, and other European venues.

To learn more about the program or tournament, please contact Moyer at 532-5127.
