Equine Excellence - The Town of Collins Public Library is pleased to announce that it has received a collection of contemporary books on draft horses from the Collins Draft Horse, Ox and Pony Club. Pictured from left are: Karen Koch, library director, and club members Annette Noto, Dan Blesy and Teresa DiPiazza. The goal of the club is to promote the use of the draft horse, oxen, and ponies, and to educate the public regarding the value of these animals. The collection given to the library includes: "Work Horse Handbook" by Lynn R. Miller, "Working Horses: Looking Back 100 Years to America's Horsedrawn Days" by Charles P. Fox, "Draft Horses" by Beth A. Valentine, "Draft Horses Today" by Robert A. Mischka, "It's Showtime! A Beginner's Guide to Showing Draft Horses" by Robert A. Mischka, and "Bonny's Big Day" by James Herriot Exciting plans are underway for the 23rd annual Plow Fest scheduled for May 2 on fields adjacent to Wheater Road and Route 62 in the Town of Collins.
