On Feb. 5, the Gowanda Garden Club held their first meeting of 2004. President Connie Williams presided. She distributed the program book for this year.

     Officers for this year are: Connie Williams, president; Gloria Tomaszewski, vice president; Ed Palen, secretary; and Dave Williams, treasurer.

     It was 18 years ago this month that the garden club was started. In 1986, seven people had the idea to form a garden club for Gowanda. After many trials and errors, the membership grew an now has 41 active participants.

     The program was presented by Dave Williams. The video showed the proper preparation of soil and garden for spring planting. Beautiful birthday cakes and the singing of "Happy Birthday To It" was enjoyed by all.

     Hostesses were Connie Williams and Henrietta Makowski. The next meeting will be March 4. Friends and interested persons are always welcome to join.
