VCR Committee meeting notesAt the VCR Committee meeting of Jan. 12, the following transpired: Phil Palen presented a Wayfaring Kiosk, an artist's rendition for a directional kiosk providing directions to Jamestown (Route 62), Fredonia (Route 39), Academy Place (North Water Street) and Nursing Home and Rafting (South Water Street). The general design was accepted. An enhanced artist's rendition has been requested for review at the next meeting. Once the artwork has been approved, a price for the permanent sign can be requested from Fossil Graphics. It was also agreed that designs and possible positions for individual signs such as "Library," "Creekside Park," "High School," "Cemetery," "Post Office," etc. would be reviewed by all and determinations made at the next meeting. Examples from Lake Shore Signs were well received. It was also agreed that the Requests For Proposal specifically include two lights for the village hall area and additional lighting in the bridge area based upon the engineering firm's lighting studies and recommendations. Michele Tow agreed to prepare a resolution for formal board approval of the streetscape project. It was reported that possible fund-raising concepts for the Town Memorial Clock are being explored. R.A. Mercer had been contacted concerning tax advantages. They indicated that donations would have to be through an approved not-for-profit agency.
