St. Joseph Cagers are undefeated

     The St. Joseph girls' JV basketball team, led by Coach Greg Sisti, beat St. Hyacinth at home on Dec. 16.

     Starters for the St. Joseph Cagers were Tori Dedloff, Meghan Giles, Madison Kiernan, Samantha Lowenkron and Danielle Steffan. The offense was unstoppable as they racked up the points. Madison Kiernan scored six points, Meghan Giles and Samantha Lowenkron four points each, and Tori Dedloff two points.

     Dedloff was given the MVP award for best overall performannce in the game - both offensively and defensively.

     Giles was given the "on the ball" award because she got possession of the ball and made the shot when a player from St. Hyacinth was about to shoot at the wrong basket. Kiernan was given the high score award because she scored the most points in the game at six. Lowenkron was given the "top of the key" award because she scored the team's first two baskets early in the game from the top of the key.

     The St. Joseph defense held St. Hyacinth to only on field goal. Lead defenders were Alex Fox, Bridget Giles, Katie Stang, Danielle Steffan and Alex Valone. Stang and Steffan were given the "best defender under the basket" awards. Fox, Giles and Valone were given the "great defender" awards.

     The team is undefeated this year.
