The ninth annual Gowanda-Area All-Sports Award Banquet will be held on Saturday, Jan. 24 at the VFW Club biginning at 6 p.m. Awards will be presented to area adults who have displayed dedication, longevity, and success in a particular sport.

     This year's recipients include: Jim Barnum, archery; Doris Martin and Jack Frost Sr., bowling; Margaret Moritz, martial arts; Fred Whipple, motorcycling; and Kevin Regan, softball.

     Memorial awards will be presented to: Gerry D'Amaro (Howard Hillis Memorial, coaching); Steve Joll's (Henry Huff Jr. Memorial), baseball; Whitney Nephew (Chuck Korbar Memorial, outstanding female student-athlete); Gerald McKeever ("Red" Powers Memorial, ultimate fan); and Dave Bolen and Jeff Wilson (George Dispenza Memorial, outstanding male student-athlete).

     Proceeds from the banquet will be donated to Gowanda-area sports programs. Tickets are available to the public at $15 each. All tickets must be reserved by calling Mark Benton at 532-4053 before Jan. 16.
