Gowanda WaveRunners Swim Team

     Nine members of the Gowanda WaveRunners Swim Team traveled to Fredonia State College on Saturday, Oct. 25 to participate in a Gold/Silver/Bronze Autumn Short Course Swim Meet hosted by the Hammerhead Swim Team of Dunkirk.

     Team members included: Matt Minnick, age 7, five first place finishes; Katie Stang, age 8, one first place finish, three second places; Taylor Anderson, age 11, one first place, one third place; Alecia Farner, age 12, two fourth places, one fifth place; Amanda Stang, age 13, two fifth places; Michael Hooper, age 13, one first place, one second place, one sixth place; Zac Anderson, age 13, one third place, one fourth place, one fifth place; Davina MacLeod, age 13, one first place, two third places, one sixth place; Martha MacLeod, age 16, one first place, one fourth place.

     Each swimmer earned a ribbon in their events. The top swimmer of the Gowanda WaveRunners Swim Team was 7-year-old Matt Minnick, who placed first in each of his events: 25 yard free, 25 yard back, 25 yard fly, 50 yard free and 50 yard back.

     The next meet will take place the weekend of Nov. 22-23.

     New members are always welcome. Anyone interested in joining the swim team is asked to call Coach Kysor at 532-3638 for more information.
