Gowanda Midget Jets add to 'win' columnRon Storm led the offense with nine carries for 225 yards with four touchdown runs of 60, 35, 36, 60, one reception for 25 yards, extra point reception and two punt returns of 37 yards. Levi Hubbard was 2-for-2 for 67 yards (42-yard touchdown pass), three carries for 4 yards, and an extra point pass. James Mallaber had one reception for a 42-yard touchdown and a carry for 2 yards. Chris Halley had five carries for 22 yards, Gavin Mercado had eight carries for 20 yards, Dylan Swartz had two carries for 2 yards, while Steve Keiner had one carry for 1 yard. The defense was led by Billie Hastie with six tackles, two assisted tackles and one fumble recovery. James Mallaber had four tackles, one assist and a sack; Ron Storm and Gavin Mercado had three tackles each; Spencer Carlson had two tackles, one assist and an interception; Dylan Swartz had two tackles; Travis Moore had one tackle and three assists; Stephen Spicola had one tackle, one assist and one fumble recovery; Derek Gregoire had one tackle and one assist; Kevin Sprawka had one tackle; Levi Hubbard had three assisted tackles; Derek Stelley and Shane Miller had one assist each; Dan Sawyer had one fumble recovery; and Jarred Bogardus had one sack.
The Jets traveled back to the Seneca Sachems' field to face the Allegany Gators Oct. 18 for the second round of the playoffs. It was a hard-fought game. The score was 0-0 until the third quarter when a 72-yard tight-end reverse started the scoring for the Jets. The final score was 20-0. The offense once again was led by Ron Storm with 17 carries for 103 yards, 1 reception for 11 yards, and one extra point pass. James Mallaber had one carry for a 72-yard touchdown run and one reception for a 25-yard touchdown; Levi Hubbard was 2-for-7 passing for 36 yards (25-yard touchdown pass) and four carries for 5 yards; Chris Halley had four carries for 16 yards (4-yard touchdown run); Gavin Mercado had three carries for 2 yards; and Sean Mammoser had one extra point reception. The defense was led by Ron Storm with 10 tackles and one interception. The Gowanda Midget Jets came home to Hillis Field in Gowanda to play against the Cattaraugus Cowboys for the 2003 Class B Superbowl. The Jets remembered last year's Superbowl against West Valley with that team winning on the last play of the game; they didn't want that to happen again. The score was 18-0 at the half and ended up 26-15 with the Jets winning the Superbowl. The offense was led by Ron Storm with 22 carries for 162 yards (25-yard, 14-yard touchdown runs), a 29-yard touchdown pass, and a 13-yard punt return. Levi Hubbard had 2-of-6 passing for 47 yards (29-yard touchdown pass) and four carries for 17 yards; Sean Mammoser had one reception for 18 yards; Chris Halley had seven carries for 17 yards (3-yard touchdown run); James Mallaber had two carries for 2 yards; Cody Sommers had two carries for 2 yards; Steve Keiner had one carry for 1 yard; Gavin Mercado had an extra point pass; Spencer Carlson had an extra point reception. The defense was led by Dylan Swartz with four tackles. Levi Hubbard had two tackles and one interception; Gavin Mercado had two tackles; Derek Gregoire had one tackle and two assists; Spencer Carlson had one tackle and one assist; Ron Storm, Billie Hastie and Kevin Sprawka had one tackle each; Richard Storm had two assisted tackles; Stephen Spicola, James Mallaber and Amberlee Kennedy had one assisted tackle each. The Gowanda Midget Jets finished their 2003 season with a record of 6-4 with two losses by one point and the others by one touchdown. The Jets' coaches look forward to next year with 17 returning Midget Jet players and the players from the Pee Wee level moving up.
