![]() New Wheels - The new Gowanda Ambulance Service ambulance was blessed by Rev. Travis Grubbs and officially put in service on Sept. 11. The new 2003 Ford Medic Master replaces the older 1993 Ford Rescue ambulance. Being one of two ambulances, the Ford Medic Master will provide a great deal of service to the community. The Gowanda Ambulance Service averages 1,000 calls per year or two to three calls per day. Along with ambulance calls, the 22 Emergency Medical Service (EMS) personnel also provide coverage for working fires, sports events, community events and special presentations for the local schools. The cost of the Medic Master ambulance with a new high tech Stryker cot was approximately $101,000. Purchases in the near future will include updating portable and mobile radios to facilitate communication with Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) on scene, hospitals and dispatchers. |
