Sept. 11 observance in Gowanda

Hail to the heroes - Color guards, members of various organizations, firefighters and law enforcement personnel lead the way to St. Joseph R.C. Church to pay tribute to those who lost their lives on 9-11 and express appreciation to all who serve their fellow man in times of stress. A crowd of adults and children gathered to hear a number of speakers and share in the singing of hymns and patriotic tunes.
Appreciation - Pastor Ross Ayers, of United Methodist Church in Perrysburg, reflects on the efforts of many who have fought terrorism and assisted others when needed. A veteran, Pastor Ayers spoke from the heart, saying "I honor those of you who have been in a war. I also honor those of you who have relatives in war and are overseas. We honor our heroes ... our warriors in our community."
