Music in the Park 2003

Gowanda's Music in the Park 2003 finishes on a colorful note on Sunday, Aug. 24 when the musical quartet Kokomo Time performs in Chang-Hu Park in Gowanda from 2 to 4 p.m.

Kokomo Time offers festive party music with a twist of Latin-Caribbean groove. The group asks "Are we ready for happy?"

With Tom Gestwicki on guitar, Jim Steffan on drums, Gary Gilray at the keyboard and Jason Schindler playing bass, the group invites concert-goers to warm up and chill out with the soothing sounds of the islands including favorite tunes from Harry Bellefonte, the Beach Boys, Jimmy Buffet and more.

To complete the theme of this final Music in the Park offering, the Gowanda Kiwanis Club will give out colorful leis to folks attending the concert. Fruit punch will also be available for a small charge.

So come out on Sunday and enjoy this last concert of the 2003 season, which is coordinated by the Gowanda Area Chamber of Commerce with funds provided by the Villages of Gowanda and Perrysburg, the Towns of Dayton, Collins and Persia, the Gowanda Kiwanis Club and the Cattaraugus County Council for the Arts.

The concert goes on, rain or shine - but moves into the First United Methodist Church on North Chapel Street if the weather so dictates. It is suggested that concert attendees bring lawn chairs.
