![]() Carving out a lasting remembrance - When Lou and Alice LiVecchi of North Collins wanted to do something to save part of their 100-year-old Norwegian maple tree that had to be taken down in May, they found master chain-saw wood-carver artist Rick Pratt from Corfu. Pratt used five sizes of chain saws and spent over eight hours carving, painting and staining his design of two Black bear cubs, climbing after a honeycomb, out of the masive tree trunk. The LiVecchis, who plan to use the bears as a new logo for heir gun sale business, had a contest to name the bears, "Raspberry" (on top) and "Blueberry." They say the bear tree sculpture has become a lamdmark of sorts, with people stopping by their Railroad Avenue home to see it. (Photo by Karen Blake.)
