Jeremy Cline of Troop 663 in Little Valley passed his Eagle Board of Review on March 24 after satisfying the review board that he had fulfilled the requirements of Eagle Scout and has lived up to the Boy Scout oath and laws. He was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout by Scoutmaster Wayne Schuver at a Court of Honor held on July 20 at the American Legion in Little Valley. Eagle Scout is the highest rank that can be attained by scouts. Less than 4 percent of youth who join scouting earn this honor. A minimum of 21 merit badges and a BSA-approved project are required. He will be attending SUNY at Oneonta in the fall to pursue a degree in music industry. Cline joined Cub Scouts in 1993 as a Wolf. He earned his Arrow of Light in 1996. He joined the Boy Scout troop in 1996 and became a patrol leader in 1998 and senior patrol leader in 2000. He was voted into the national brotherhood of the Order of the Arrow in 1999. He was involved with Community Service projects throughout his scouting career, including Scouting for Food, and assisting with village clean up. He attended the National Jamboree in 2001 at Fort AP Hill in Virginia. For his Eagle project, Cline coordinated and worked on refurbishing and refinishing the floor of the scout's meeting room in the Little Valley United Methodist Church. The project involved removing a wall, refinishing the floor, building a stage, and painting the room as well. Over 800 man-hours were spent with Cline participating in the work along with inmate work crews from Collins Correctional Facility. The project was done over Easter break in the spring of 2002. The savings to the LVUM church was approximately $20,000. Cline is the 18-year-old son of Steven and Audrey Cline of Dayton. He recently graduated from Cattaraugus-Little Valley Central School and during his years at CLVCS, he maintained honor or merit roll status for his entire junior-senior high career. His final average was 93.3. A nine-year member of the band and chorus at CLVCS, he played the trumpet and was a bass singer. For the past three years he was also a member of the jazz band and brass ensemble and spent a year in Varsity Singers. In the sports field, Cline earned his varsity letter in soccer, basketball and track and was awarded MVP in soccer and track in 2003. He was co-captain of his soccer, basketball and track teams. He was selected for the Cattaraugus Basketball Officials 2003 Exceptional Seniors Game, and in 2002 and 2003, he was chosen to attend Super 8 for track and was able to compete in the Section VI finals. He placed first in Pentathlon for Section VI in 2002, and took a medal for sixth place in NYS for Class C/D schools. In 2003, Cline placed second in Section VI for Pentathlon. He was named to The Post Journal's 2002 and 2003 Track and Field All-Stars for Pentathlon. Aside from school, while attending the East Leon Wesleyan Church, Cline attended Sunday school, Club House, Vacation Bible School and Youth Group. He participated in 30-Hour Famine, Crop Walk, Kingdom Bound and Niagara 98 and 99. The eagle Scout is currently a lifeguard for Allegheny Mountain Resort.
