Music in the Park 2003On Friday night, July 25, "No Effect," a group formed by local resident Carl Accordino of Perrysburg and Dean Bell will perform classic acoustic rock including hits from the past like "American Pie," "Heart of Gold" and "Like A Rolling Stone." No Effect has performed on AM Buffalo, WNY Tonight, at the Erie County Fair and locally at the Collins Library as well as at Gowanda's Music in the Park 2002. On Sunday, July 27, a special treat is planned for those folks who enjoy theater as the Springville Players present "Much Ado About Nothing," with an all-student cast directed by Shirley Reeves. This will be presented at 1 p.m. in Chang-Hu Park (rain date Aug. 2). This is sponsored by the Gowanda Free Library and is funded by the Cattaraugus County Arts Council. The Shakespeare presentation will be followed by a special Sunday afternoon concert at 2:30 performed by Bob Lucia and Seven Swing Street. The swinging sounds of this ever-popular group will provide concert-goers with lots of nostalgia from the "Good Old Days." Playing all over the Southern Tier, this group will entertain in the big band swinging style. The Music in the Park series is sponsored by the Gowanda-Area Chamber of Commerce with funds with funds provided by the villages of Gowanda, Perrysburg and Dayton and the towns of Perrysburg and Collins; the Gowanda Kiwanis Club and the Cattaraugus County Council for the Arts. It is suggested that concert attendees bring lawn chairs and refreshments if desired. In case of rain the concerts will be held at the First Methodist Church on North Chapel Street.
