Joseph Gates, trustee of the Mary A. Kaluza Memorial Scholarship Fund, is pleased to award $500 to Jochen Hutzenlaub, 2004 Gowanda Central School graduate and salutatorian, who plans to enter Allegheny College to study business-related courses and eventually begin a career in international business.

     Mary Kaluza taught business courses for many years at GCS. Her wish was to award funds to GCS graduates whose post-secondary education and career plans are to enter the business science-related field. Consequently, over the past several years many former graduates were awarded funds to defray college expenses.

     Emil Kaluza, her husband and longtime Gowanda and Florida resident, willed in June 2003 to re-establish the Memorial Fund beginning this year.
